A first gaming PC is easier to choose when you begin with the games, not the case lights. “Gaming PC” is not a performance standard. The exact graphics card, processor and settings determine whether a refurbished computer is suitable for the person using it.
List the games and the intended screen
Write down the actual games and whether the player wants ordinary play, competitive settings or demanding mods. Fortnite, Minecraft and other familiar names can have very different requirements as updates, shaders and game modes change. Check the publisher’s current requirements and agree the monitor resolution.
A PC suitable for basic Minecraft may not suit a large mod pack with shaders. A higher-resolution screen increases graphics demands. If a listing states a game is suitable, ask what that assessment covers; do not turn it into a guaranteed frame rate.
Read the full specification
Look for the exact GPU model and processor generation, not just “i7” or a graphics-memory figure. Dedicated and integrated graphics are different, and more graphics memory alone does not prove a card is faster. Check system RAM and SSD capacity too: several installed games can use substantial storage.
If future upgrades are important, ask about the motherboard, power supply, connectors and case space. A low-cost office PC with an added card may have limited expansion options. Do not budget for an upgrade that has not been checked.
Check everything needed for the first day
Confirm monitor connections, Wi-Fi or Ethernet, installed operating system and activation. Check whether the listing includes a monitor, keyboard, mouse or cables. Plan for legitimate game licences and a suitable internet connection; neither is guaranteed by the computer specification.
Understand cover and purchase arrangements
Our gaming PCs include three months parts and labour, then labour-only cover through month 12. For a covered fault in months 4–12, replacement parts are chargeable and covered fitting labour is not. Optional 12-month parts and labour cover costs extra; ask for the item-specific price. Statutory rights are unaffected.
Explore our refurbished gaming PCs and open the exact listing. Send the reference and game list to our team before buying. We confirm stock, included items and delivery or collection rather than treating a listing as a reservation.
Quick answers
Does an i7 badge mean a PC is good for gaming?
No. Processor generation, exact graphics card, memory, game requirements and target resolution all matter.
Are a monitor, keyboard and mouse included?
Only if explicitly listed. Confirm included items, video connections and any required cables before purchase.
