Server & Network Support in Nottingham
Servers and networks fail differently — a dead server stops everything at once, while a bad network dies by a thousand cuts: dropped calls, patchy Wi-Fi, card machines that time out. We handle both for businesses across Nottingham, Mansfield, Derby and Long Eaton — repair when something's down, and the unglamorous maintenance that stops it going down in the first place.
We repair tower and rack servers from Dell, HP, Lenovo and custom builds, on-site where possible or in our Nottingham workshop, with server-grade drives, PSUs and boards among our 5,000+ parts in stock. And we design, install and support the network around them — switches, routers, firewalls, Wi-Fi and structured cabling.

Network support: the faults that never quite crash
Most network problems don't take the office down — they just make every day slightly worse. Wi-Fi that drops in one corner of the building. VoIP calls that stutter at the same time every afternoon. A switch that's been blinking amber for a year because nobody knows what it does.
We support the whole stack: switches, routers and firewalls configured properly rather than left on factory settings; Wi-Fi designed for the building you actually have, not the one on the box; and structured cabling run, terminated and tested so the network stops being a mystery. When something misbehaves, we diagnose the real cause — interference, ageing hardware, bad layout — instead of selling you a new box and hoping.
Infrastructure: backups, storage and migrations
The infrastructure work is where problems get prevented. We set up and test backups — and prove they restore, because an untested backup is a hope, not a plan. We plan storage before it runs out rather than after. And when a server needs replacing, virtualising or moving to new hardware, we handle the migration with the downtime agreed in advance and the rollback path ready.
We work with VMware and Hyper-V virtualisation platforms, physical-to-virtual migrations, and the storage underneath all of it.
How this fits with IT support
This page is the hardware and infrastructure side: the servers, the network, the cabling, the boxes with blinking lights. Our IT support service is the people side — helpdesk, email, Microsoft 365, security and the day-to-day questions your team has.
Plenty of businesses use both, and they're designed to fit together: support plans include server and network monitoring, so the kit this page describes gets watched before it fails, not fixed after. If you're not sure which you need, call and describe the problem — we'll point you at the right one.
Why does office Wi-Fi drop? A short guide
Before calling anyone out, it helps to know what usually causes it:
- Interference — neighbouring networks, microwaves and even fish tanks compete on the same channels. A crowded 2.4GHz band is the single most common culprit in offices and shops.
- One router doing too much — a single access point rarely covers a whole building. Dead zones behind thick walls or on other floors need additional access points, not a stronger aerial.
- Ageing hardware — routers and access points degrade quietly. If yours predates the phrase "working from home", it's a suspect.
- Too many devices — consumer-grade kit handles a handful of devices well and thirty badly. Offices need business-grade access points rated for the headcount.
- The wire, not the wireless — sometimes "the Wi-Fi is down" is actually a failing switch, a damaged cable or the broadband itself. That's why we test the wired path first.
- What to check before calling: restart the router (genuinely — it rules out the easy case), note whether the problem follows a place or a device, and note the time of day it happens. Those three answers cut most diagnoses in half.
We can collect your device, repair it at our Nottingham workshop and return it to your door. Get in touch for a collection quote: 0115 855 9414.
Server down? We treat it like the emergency it is
A failed server stops the whole business, so we prioritise diagnosis, keep you informed at every step and get you back online as fast as safely possible — RAID recovery, failed components, migrations and health checks all handled by certified engineers with a documented audit trail.
Frequently asked questions
Do you offer on-site server repair?
Yes — for business-critical faults we attend on-site across Nottingham, Mansfield, Derby and Long Eaton wherever possible. Where a workshop repair makes more sense, we'll say so and keep you updated throughout.
Can you recover a failed RAID array?
In most cases, yes. Stop using the array and call us — continued writes reduce the odds of recovery. We diagnose the failure, rebuild where possible and recover data from failed members using server-grade replacement drives held in stock.
Which server brands do you support?
Dell PowerEdge, HP ProLiant, Lenovo and custom-built servers, both tower and rack, plus VMware and Hyper-V virtualisation platforms. If you run something else, call us — chances are we've worked on it.
Can you fix patchy office Wi-Fi?
Yes — we survey the building, find the actual cause (interference, coverage gaps, ageing hardware or a wired fault pretending to be wireless) and fix that, whether it means repositioning access points, adding them, or replacing kit that's past it.
Do you install network cabling?
Yes — structured cabling for offices, shops and units: new points, tidy-ups of existing runs, and testing/labelling so the patch panel finally makes sense. Quoted per job after a site survey.
Do you offer support contracts?
Yes. Many local businesses have us monitor and maintain their servers and networks under an IT support plan, which prevents most failures before they happen and gets you priority response when something does go wrong.
